Florida 2018 oct / nov

Finally came down to visit older sister Betty in Florida. Can't remember exactly when was the last time we were down in Florida, 2004 for my Dad's funeral up in Penny Farms outside Jacksonville? Whereas we had come down every 3rd year or so in the 1980s-2004 after my folks moved down and retired in Bradenton, 3/4 blocks away from Betty's place.  Sister Barb was also down here from the late 1990s until she moved back up to Virginia in ? 2008/10?
A combined trip since we also came down to see old friends - Sara Ann and Charles Emerson, who happened to be outside Bradenton at a Kodai 5-day reunion. So we arranged to see them also, at an Indian lunch and sunset boat trip.  Thing is we missed the first leg of our flight down on Tuesday - the 6 am flight left at 5:50 am before Deej could get back from her attempt to stash her illegal knife in my bag and come through the long security line again. Upshot was she didn't get through in time and we had to see about coming on stand-by flights.  Which we barely and eventually did, but that didn't get us in to Sarasota at 10 as planned, but 2 pm, missing our luncheon. But we got on the sunset cruise with 20 or so others, main Kodai students (Class of 59) and their spouses.
Since I forgot to take photos of my Woodstock students who also attended Kodai (Dale and Elizabeth) I asked if I could go to their DaySpring Kodai reunion site to get photos at the 4 pm free time hour. But that didn't work exactly either because previous events spilled over into the 4 pm hour. Nonetheless I learned about Holmes being one of my trainees at the Milwaukee Peace Corps summer 1966 session where I was a cultural program trainer. And I had 5 minutes introducing myself to the Kodai people - what a hoot.  We got a photo, too
Kodai / Woodstock studnets - except me. Dale, Elizabeth, Sara Ann, Philip, Charles, and ??

Then Betty gave a fantastic luncheon for the Emersons, plus Essenbaggers, etc. Boy, there was a lot of jabbering and learning, and discussing, and questioning. Fantastic.
We've been out at the Bradenton Beach twice - once very calm water, and the second time wind and waves.
Also finally met Tori as we picked her up at school.  And also Eric, trying to figure out how to help him out in his search in college sports as a Stree trainer.
And on Thursday, after seeing Kim at work, and a walk around De Soto landing, Deej and I drove up to get together with Holly, Deepak, and Anoushka. Much more talking, questions, and learning. A nice warm chai with pakoras, chai, channa, etc. with Anouska playing her violin, flute, and testing us with hang man's nouse. We were delayed by downpours (and sighted tornadoes) on the way up, and two accidents on the way back down - Deej driving all the way!
Need to get Deepak information about Gita Patnaik 's neice publisher in Boston
Need to get Jan's son's name and contact in Colorado about a sports job
